What You’ll Do

The hands on Lead is responsible for gaining a thorough understanding of the new system to be tested.  This individual must learn both the technical side of the system as well as understand what the business user expects.  The lead analyst will create automated test scripts, use cases, test cases, test plans, create test data and define the expected result. During daily scrum meetings and collaborations meetings the lead analyst will collaborate and communicate the around the above artifacts with team members, other technical teams and users, to ensure accuracy and transparency prior to test execution.  The lead analyst will document test results and report status on the systems stability.  The lead analyst will be able to diagnose and absorb new projects, and evaluate the designed system, the requirements and other key approaches to develop a comprehensive test approach.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily.

•    Works in an Agile team throughout the Lifecycle to collaborate on the analysis, design, development & testing
•    Actively participates in Sprint planning sessions to create stories with robust acceptance criteria while helping identify missing or incomplete requirements
•    Actively participates in design/technical reviews to identify missing, incomplete or inaccurate design assumptions or design choices. 
•    Creates and Executes automated scripts for regression, integration, and functional testing on newly designed or modified applications/systems. 
•    Thoroughly analyzes, tests, and documents software quality to ensure proper implementation.
•    Clearly articulates verbally and in writing the specifics around defects
•    Monitors and updates defect reports as needed to ensure timely problem resolution.
•    Independently follows up with design/development resources regarding defects. 
•    Follows agreed upon implementation of agile philosophies to ensure that all information system products and services meet:  both explicit and implicit quality standards, end-user functional requirements, architectural standards, performance requirements, audit requirements, security rules are upheld, and external facing reporting is properly represented.
•    Performs application and project risk analysis and recommends quality improvements.
•    Assists Production Support by testing time sensitive defects and providing advice on system functionality.
•    Communicates in a clear and concise manner all time delays or defects in the software immediately to appropriate team members and management
•    Mentor and coach team members and new team members
•    Champions test automation and testing best practice
•    Evaluate solution to design, script and execute Performance (Load, Stress etc..) tests
 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Lead activities, including assigning and delegating work to team members as needed

  • Communicating status to team and senior management

  • Assisting immediate supervisor in administrative duties that have been delegated 

  • Training team members on new systems requirements and nuances

Qualifications:

•    Broad based knowledge of the lifecycle development, change control management, test planning management
•    Deeply analytical skills, with ability to display methods of testing highly sophisticated systems, progressively diagnose systems defects, and clearly communicate to project constituents, key findings and learnings.
•    Strong communication skills, written and oral, analytical abilities, sound judgement and time management skills, and the ability to work effectively with clients (users), management and staff.
•    Highly motivated self-starter with creative problem solving skills.
•    Able to meet aggressive deadlines efficiently and effectively.
•    Able to handle multiple project tasks simultaneously.
 

Technical Skills:

•    Automated Testing Tool experience 
•    Automated RESTFUL Web services testing
•    Performance Testing Skills and tools experience
•    Database experience (i.e. Informix, Sybase, SQL Server, Oracle and DB2).
•    J-units, python coding, Perl and Unix shell scripting a plus
•    Big Data Experience a plus
 

Education and/or Experience:

•    10 years’ experience in leading QA efforts.  5+ years’ experience as a Lead Automation Engineer
•    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
•    Mastery of QA concepts, principles and requirements is a must.
•    Requires experience developing test cases / scenarios using structured test methods. 
•    Financial Industry experience preferably in trading and Risk management

Certificates or Licenses:

•    Any QA certifications are a plus.
•    JCP / Python certification a plus
•    Agile certifications a plus
