Responsible for day to day management of accounting operations, including general ledger, fixed assets, accounts receivable and billing with an emphasis in accounts payable oversight. Requires a strong understanding of internal control processes and standards to ensure compliance in a heavily regulated environment.  Ability to thrive in a fast paced work environment, multitask and prioritize responsibilities and demonstrate strong analytical skills with the ability to make smart business decisions using a good sense of judgement. In this role, you will manage an accounting staff of 2-3 people.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily.

  • Manage and oversee daily operations of the accounting department, including, but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, leases, and project costing
  • Assist in the monthly financial close and reporting process and assist in timely reporting of all monthly financial information
  • Analyze variances and assist with the preparation of explanations
  • Monitor staff activities and make recommendations for improving processes and procedures
  • Review 5500 filings and manage the Retirement Plan and 401k financial statement creation process
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors and regulatory examiners
  • Review audit documents prepared by staff
  • Develop and maintain procedures and controls applicable to accounting processes
  • Oversee maintenance of internal control processes and standards and ensure the compliance of the team
  • Assist in review of annual financial statements and footnotes
  • Mentor, coach and oversee professional development of staff
  • Spearhead ad-hoc projects

  • Manage a team of 2-3 people

Qualifications & Experience

  • [Required] Previous supervisory experience
  • [Required] Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize and delegate duties
  • [Required] Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • [Required] Prior SEC/regulatory work environment experience, preferred
  • [Required] Understands the importance of team building, both inside and outside the Accounting group
  • [Required] Strong knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Technical Skills & Background

  • [Required] Proficient with Microsoft Office, with a strong emphasis on Excel
  • [Preferred] Knowledge of Accounting software, experience in Oracle or the like


  • [Required] Certified Public Accountant

Education & Training

  • [Required] Bachelor of Science degree in in Accounting or equivalent experience
  • [Required] 5+ years of financial services experience
