The Options Clearing Corporation (OCC) is the world's largest equity derivatives clearing organization. What you will do:
The Staff Accountant handles various accounting tasks for OCC, which will include maintaining and recording business transactions, maintaining general ledger accounts, balancing and reconciling ledgers, preparing reports and other general accounting duties, as assigned.
Requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment, multitask and prioritize responsibilities and demonstrate strong analytical skills with the ability to make smart business decisions using a good sense of judgment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily.
Assist in several tasks required for the completion of closing the books on a monthly basis
Perform account reconciliations for certain asset and liability accounts
Perform daily review of banking activity and processing of financial transactions in the general ledger, including classifying, computing, posting and recording general ledger data
Assist in the processing of certain accounts payable transactions on a monthly basis
Assist in preparation of financial statements and ensure financials are complete, accurate and in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Periodic review and maintenance of accounting department policies and procedures
Serve as a backup to other roles in the Accounting department; specifically, the exchange billing process
Assist in process and preparation of annual financial statements and footnotes
Perform other duties/ad hoc projects as assigned

Technical Skills:
Experience with MS Office with a strong emphasis on Excel
[Preferred] Knowledge of Accounting software, experience in Oracle

Certificates or Licenses:
