OCC, The Options Industry Council today announced that Gina McFadden, a long-time leader in the U.S. listed equity options industry, will be the first woman to receive the 2017 Joseph W. Sullivan Options Industry Achievement Award. This award is given to individuals in recognition of outstanding contributions to the U.S. options industry. The award will be presented at the 35th Annual Options Industry Conference on May 12 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Gina McFadden's career spanned nearly forty years in the options industry. She was President of OIC from 2006 to 2013 and prior to that was Executive Director from 1995 to 2006. Concurrent with her OIC position, Ms. McFadden also was a member of The Options Clearing Corporation's senior management team, serving as Executive Vice President of Industry Services. Before that she was Executive Vice President of OCC's Business Operations Group and Business and Product Development. Ms. McFadden contributed to the growth of the U.S. listed options markets by overseeing the implementation of clearing enhancements that delivered operational efficiencies to market participants and enriched the OCC customer service experience. Additionally, through her leadership of OIC, increased focus was placed on expanding options investor education beyond retail investors to financial advisors and institutional investors, and extending OIC's reach beyond North America to Europe and Asia.
Ms. McFadden was active on various industry committees and organizations, including OIC's Roundtable, OCC's Operations Roundtable, SIFMA's Equity Options Roundtable, the STA Options Committee and the Futures Industry Association. Promoting the advancement of women, she was an inaugural board member of Women in Listed Derivatives , a professional development group for women. Ms. McFadden completed the Kellogg Management Institute Graduate Program at Northwestern University and SIA's Securities Institute Program at the Wharton School. She has a B.A. from Barat College.
"Gina's extensive background and accomplishments in the listed options markets through her career at OCC, her leadership of OIC and her active involvement with professional organizations demonstrates her longstanding commitment to the growth of the options industry. Her contributions have left an indelible mark on the options industry as we know it today," said Mary Savoie, OCC First Vice President of Industry Services and Executive Director of OIC.
"It is a great honor to receive this year's award and to join such a distinguished group of previous award winners.
