ISE Gemini Options Exchange Joins OCC

CHICAGO (August 5, 2013) - OCC and the International Securities Exchange (ISE) announced today that ISE Gemini has become an OCC participant exchange. ISE Gemini, ISE's newly launched options exchange, began operations on August 5, 2013, bringing the total number of options markets in the U.S. to 12.

With the addition of ISE Gemini, OCC now provides central counterparty (CCP) clearing and settlement services to 18 exchanges and trading platforms for options, security futures, financial and commodity futures, and securities lending transactions.

OCC operates under the jurisdiction of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), and clears and guarantees the trades executed on all U.S. options exchanges. As a result of ISE Gemini's affiliation with OCC, the standardized options contracts traded on the ISE Gemini can be offset against the same options contracts traded on the other U.S. options markets, resulting in significant efficiencies for participating member firms.
