OCC Cleared Contract Volume Up Two Percent in June

  • Securities lending CCP activity up 27 percent in June and 20 percent year-to-date
  • Futures volume up 16 percent in June and 44 percent year-to-date

CHICAGO (July 11, 2017) – OCC, the world's largest equity derivatives clearing organization, announced today that cleared contract volume in June reached 387,597,223 contracts, a two percent increase from the June 2016 volume of 378,908,938 contracts. OCC's year-to-date average daily cleared contract volume was also up two percent from 2016 with 17,174,603 contracts. Cleared futures volume was up 16 percent in June with 13,194,530 contracts, and securities lending CCP activity was up 27 percent over June 2016 with 1,142,708 new loan transactions.

Options: Exchange-listed options volume reached 374,402,693 contracts in June, a two percent increase from June 2016 volume. Year-to-date average daily options volume is up one percent with 16,617,442 contracts.

**Equity options volume in June was 336,306,793 contracts, a four percent increase from June 2016. This includes cleared ETF options volume of 149,894,817 contracts last month, a 10 percent decrease over June 2016 volume of 165,801,003 contracts. Index options volume in June was down 16 percent with 38,095,900 contracts.

Futures: OCC cleared futures volume in June reached 13,194,530 contracts, a 16 percent increase from June 2016. OCC's year-to-date average daily cleared futures volume is up 44 percent with 557,161 contracts in 2017.

Securities Lending: OCC's securities lending activity in June was up 27 percent in new loans with 204,340 transactions. Year-to-date stock loan activity is up 20 percent from 2016 with 1,142,708 new loan transactions. The average daily loan value cleared by OCC in June was $154,409,839,841.
