Associate Principal, Storage Engineering

What You'll Do:

Must have demonstrated prior experience designing, supporting, and administering storage/backup technologies in a heterogenous enterprise storage environment. We are embarking on a transition to infrastructure to be focused on AWS. You will assist in driving “infrastructure as code” mentality throughout the organization and demonstrate a daily passion for automation concepts and tools. This role requires location to be the Chicago area, hybrid home/office.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop Terraform code to manage AWS infrastructure including creation, deletion, and modification.
  • Develop Jenkins CI/CD pipelines to deploy infrastructure code.
  • Develop Ansible code for storage and backup infrastructure automation.
  • Write easy-to-understand documentation for technical and non-technical users.
  • Recommend AWS infrastructure solutions based on business requirements.
  • Should be able to use vendor storage management tools to monitor, provision and report on the Storage infrastructure health and capacity.
  • Coordinate and manage vendor supported activities -To include Installs, maintenance, migrations, and the like, while also using change management process
  • Comply with all audits, compliance, familiar with regulatory requirements in a careful and heavily regulated environment.
  • Attending meetings as a team representative, support on call, weekend and off hours work as needed.

Qualifications: Required

  • 7+ years or equivalent experience supporting Storage and backup environments.
  • 3+ years or equivalent experience working with DevOps or Infrastructure as Code

Technical Skills: Required

  • Solid experience writing Terraform, Ansible, and Python Scripts
  • Solid experience with Jenkins, Jenkins pipelines, and GitHub
  • Work experience supporting on-premises SAN and NAS infrastructure
  • Work in handling tasks w/ backup infrastructure in AWS backup target devices
  • Cisco Hardware: SAN switches and UCS
  • Use and understanding of storage provisioning processes

Technical skills preferred.

  • Experience in ESX VMware SAN environment
  • Experience with NetApp NAS storage arrays
  • Experience with Ansible Automation Platform
  • Familiarity with object storage devices such as Dell ECS or Cloudian
  • Experience with use and planning on devices for Confluence and Jira
  • Dell EMC Hardware: PowerMax, DLM, and ECS
  • Dell EMC Software: Solutions Enabler, SRDF, SCG

Education and/or Experience: Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Business, or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Good analytical, communication and teamwork skills
  •  3+ years of experience with AWS Storage
  •  3+ years of experience with systems administration and backup
