What You'll Do

This role will analyze new and existing business in the context of the current market environment with the purpose of developing opportunities for OCC to change or strengthen its position as a systemically important financial markets utility (SIFMU). The Senior Associate will collaborate with OCC service teams and OCC market participants to conduct primary and secondary research and present analysis to key internal and external stakeholders.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily.

  • Conduct research and analysis of OCC’s competitive landscape to drive strategic initiatives, including areas such as capitalization, operating margin, risk management and membership

  • Develop real-time identification, tracking and monitoring mechanisms for market data, trends and opportunities

  • Updating OCC’s 5 year plan with the results of our tracking and monitoring that impact our assumptions

  • On a quarterly basis prepare the Chief Operating Officer report for the Board of Directors

  • Prepare monthly trend reports for corporate executives

  • Develop quantitative and qualitative techniques, including complex financial models, to analyze data and make recommendations and decisions

  • Prepare market forecasts, revenue analysis and scenario analysis for different business initiatives

  • Support the development of business cases, presentations and white papers

  • Assess the strategic impact of new regulation on OCC’s business

  • Collaborate with services teams to respond to clearing member/exchange requests for information

  • Collect and validate industry knowledge through calls and meetings with market participants

  • Assist with other high priority corporate projects as assigned

  • [Required] Knowledge of strategic analysis and financial modeling methodologies

  • [Required] Strong analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment

  • [Required] Ability to manage and execute projects with multiple internal and/or external stakeholders

  • [Required] Strong professional presence, with strong ability to communicate ideas both written and verbally to an executive audience

  • [Required] Ability to critically assess the quality and accuracy of source materials

  • [Required] Excellent grammar

Technical Skills:

  • [Required] Proficient use of the MS Office suite, with emphasis on Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

  • [Required] Experience normalizing data sets developing dashboards on Tableau, Alteryx or similar tool

  • [Preferred] Ability to develop quantitative and qualitative models, including complex financial models

Education and/or Experience:

  • [Required] Bachelor of Science in an applicable discipline or an equivalent combination of education and work experience

  • [Preferred] Working knowledge of financial markets, with an emphasis on derivatives and clearing

  • [Preferred] Experience with Financial Modeling for the purpose of creating capital, operating margin, or business opportunity plans

  • [Preferred] project management experience leading small to large projects and development of project plans
