Best in Biz Awards Honors OCC Corporate Communications as ‘PR Department of the Year’

December 08, 2022

OCC today announced that its Corporate Communications team was named PR Department of the Year in the 12th Annual Best in Biz Awards, an independent business awards program judged by editors and reporters from top-tier publications in North America.

OCC’s Corporate Communications team consists of five individuals who work together to develop and implement OCC’s corporate marketing and communications strategy, including external relations (brand awareness and public relations), internal relations (employee communication and engagement), social media, and creative/design.

The judges noted that they were “impressed with the dramatic impact . . . a small team was able to have on such a large organization,” citing improvements in corporate reputation and employee engagement.

“The team also did a laudable job with internal communications…and produced various innovative, engaging and fun initiatives to keep employees connected, virtually and in-person,” judges said. “Overall, the team navigated the changing landscape of hybrid work with flawless execution, increasing employee satisfaction and engagement.”

The 12th annual awards program received more than 700 entries from public and private companies of all sizes and representing all industries and regions in the U.S. and Canada, ranging from global brands to start-ups and local companies. Companies from any industry based or operating in the U.S. or Canada were eligible to enter any of the more than 100 award categories.

Since the program’s inception in 2011, winners in Best in Biz Awards have been determined based on scoring from independent judging panels assembled each year from some of the most respected national and local newspapers, TV and radio outlets, and business, consumer, technology, and trade publications in North America. The 2022 judging panel included, among others, writers from AdWeek, Computerworld, Forbes, The Globe & Mail, Inc., The Oregonian, and Portland Tribune.
